Australia and New Zealand co-hosted their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023. Novatech were proud to have been selected by the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) to provide technical production for the FIFA Fan Festival Adelaide 2023, working alongside Nexstage, who supplied the custom branded stage.
Located in the Festival Plaza in the heart of Adelaide, the festival was one of the first major activations since the site was constructed in 2022. The FIFA Fan Festival Adelaide featured a full program of live-streamed tournaments, free concerts, cultural performances, and a showcase of South Australia’s culinary scene.
Up to 2,800 fans per night attended the Fan Festival to watch 64 matches, enjoy the performances and atmosphere, as well as participate in the festival programs curated by KOJO day and night from 20 July to 20 August 2023. To enable the FIFA Fan Festival Adelaide, Novatech deployed a large central 44 sqm LED screen (ROE Visual CB5 AirFrame) at the rear of the stage with multiple other delay LED screens around the site. A custom L-Acoustic SoundVision design enabled focused sound of L-Acoustics speakers around the site to enhance the live experiences without disturbing the nearby touring musical at the Adelaide Festival Centre. There was also great collaboration with several bands, including Kimbra, San Cisco, Montaigne as headlining acts on selected evenings along with the showcasing of several local bands.
The overflow site at The Drive accommodated an additional 4,800 fans on the last semi-final night when the Matilda’s took on England. In total, over 87,000 fans experienced the FIFA Fan Festival at Festival Plaza during the tournament and the pop-up live site at The Drive during the Matildas semi-final. Novatech take pride in providing turnkey audio-visual solutions and were proud to play their part in bringing this festival to life & providing an immersive environment to cheer on the Matilda’s as they made history.
