Novatech are the masters of innovative event experiences, with the creative and technical expertise to turn event dreams into spectacular realities. This year has been tough for many; there is no doubt the pandemic has taken a toll on the live events industry which in turn has impacted people working in that industry. With over 60 full-time staff and approximately 20 casual crew, Novatech employs one of the most qualified and talented event production teams in Australia who are always ready to make any event a roaring success. People have always been the core of their business and Novatech make it a priority to look after their staff. With a focus on health and wellbeing during these challenging times, it was timely for Novatech to get the team together for a team building session.
As part of Novatech’s comprehensive health and wellbeing program for their 80+ staff, a team building workshop was conducted for all staff. In the past, team building activities have been held in conjunction with Port Adelaide Football Club, Adelaide United Football Club, Defence Forces, and Beyond the Boardroom just to name a few. This year, Novatech partnered up with professional basketball team and long-standing partner, Adelaide 36ers to build on their teamwork and communication at Titanium Security Arena. Novatech have been a partner of the club for well over a decade and most recently have been mastering the pre-game entertainment and experiences with the 36ers at their new match day home, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Titanium Security Arena holds great significance for both Novatech and the Sixers, it’s where Novatech began their partnership and also where the 36ers won three championships.
“Our partnership with Novatech is extremely important to our Club as we continue on our journey to transform the sports entertainment landscape in South Australia. The expertise Novatech provides enables our game days to be delivered to a high standard and to continually evolve”, Adelaide 36ers CEO, Ben Kavenagh said. “It is also fantastic that we are able to support Novatech business objectives off the court, sharing insights on how an elite sports program builds its team culture and importantly communicates,” continued Ben.
Coach Connor, Lead Assistant Jamie and Fitness Coach Nick led the session, tipping off with a locker room chat where some insight into their team culture was shared, which is not dissimilar to how Novatech operates as a team. Novatech Human Resources Advisor, Danielle Work commented, “A lot of the attributes that make a good sports team is also transferrable to our work and this formed part of our locker room chat which resonated with us all and prepared us for the drills.” Nick then led the team through some stretches and drills to warm up. A few of the Sixers players then managed different stations with drills and team activities for Novatech staff – all under social distancing measures!
“The Novatech team building day with the 36ers was a blast. It was great to get everyone together and be active, there was a lot of laughter and some friendly competition. Team building is part of Novatech’s Health and Wellbeing program aimed to support our staff holistically. It’s important for us to continue our focus in this area, maintaining a positive, engaging and supportive culture. The team came out of the session pumped up, a little sweaty but smiling after an all-round fun experience,” shares Danielle.
